| Herbcamp 2009 by Pablo Russell
This year the herbcamp was hosted by Pablos parents house in the prairie and the participants got to experience the daily life of a native family. They opened their home to us and we cooked in their house and slept outside in the tipi. The participants put up the tipi themselves on their first day in the prairie. We did not have a schedule for each day here they live for the moment and so did the participants, so depending on the weather and the options that came along with it and requests from the participants we decided on a daily basis what to do.

In the morning Pablo gave teachings about the spiritual aspect of picking herbs and we went picking in the prairie. It was possible to make the of the herbs for personal use, and everybody picked enough to bring some home.

In between the serious stuff as teachings we went to have some fun by going horse riding and canoeing in the mountains.

This year Pablo had to go to Chief Mountain and have a pipe ceremony and make an offering in connection to the vision quest he went on a couple of weeks before the herbcamp. Therefore the participants got to go to Chief Mountain and make an offering themselves.

We went to the river to cool of on a very hot day and in general the nature in the prairie/mountains is worth a moment of your undivided attention:0)

What is not pictured here is the sweat lodge that was held also at pablos parents house. The participants had to build the fire and prepare for the sweat and after words we had a good meal which in the home of a native family often consists of fried meat, potato, corn and salads.
